The Fishing

The Rio Puelo with it's greenish, but clear waters produce some very large varieties of trout and salmon. Using both dry and wet flies you'll have the opportunity to float and wade the river, working with your preferences. A few miles upstream from the bridge on the Rio Puelo you'll find Lake Tagua Tagua and at the east end of the lake you can disembark and wade the Rio Manso and the upper Rio Puelo. Your fishing excursion will include lunch, beverages, snacks, and English speaking guide services.

Day 1

You'll arrive in Santiago, Chile for a short layover and then on to Puerto Montt where you'll be met for your transfer to the Rio Puelo Fishing Lodge. You will see resort towns dotting the shores around Lake Llanquihue, lush rain forests and Chilean people going about their daily life on this 3 hour ride. Time to settle in and rest or throw some lines until sunset. We'll meet in the dining room for a reception dinner served Chilean style with aperitifs and our famed Chilean wines, beer or non-alcoholic beverages.

Day 2 - Day 6

You'll start your day waking up to the fresh air and morning sounds of the forest followed by a breakfast served in the dining room. Then you'll go in search of trophy size trout and salmon on the Rio Puelo, Lago Tagua Tagua, Rio Manso and the upper Rio Puelo. Your guide will show you the different techniques used in these areas and the fly patterns that work best. You'll break for lunch either at the lodge or on the river banks. After lunch you'll fish the day away until sunset. Then back to the lodge for aperitifs, dinner, fish stories and overnight.

Day 7

Breakfast in the dining room and then transfer to the airport for the departure flight.
